"... a policeman wanted 5,000 baht and I told them that I. Then he told me that if I went to bed with him I would bring the station ... "
illegal immigrants in Thailand have accused the authorities' Ranong selling them to smugglers and boatmen to make the girls sex slaves for a fee.
Two Burmese have told the police along with officers of Ranong Immigration Office, ask for money or sexual services to their victims behind prison or selling to brokers if they refuse to give in to demands.
A 17 year old girl said she was forced to work as a prostitute in a karaoke bar ever since he was 13, selling his body to 350 baht per customer of which 125 are the master and the officer 100 corrupt. The karaoke bar said to belong to a cop instead.
Immigrants arrested in Ranong, after a period of imprisonment that ranges are selected and marked for delivery in groups along the river to Burma where Kraburi during the transfer meets the boats of smugglers.
Illegal trafficking of Burmese and 'in progress for several years where thousands are captured and exploited.
Ranong is located on the border more 'close between Burma and South of the 14 Thai provinces, including location' of international tourism such as Phuket, Krabi and Kao Lak.
Paradoxically, the process has the tacit consent of the victims themselves which they prefer to be sexually exploited or being sold the labor force in the shrimp and shrimp rather than be handed over to the authorities' Burma which reserve their long imprisonment and sometimes torture.
This is the information given by Ae and Mo (invented names), the two Burmese women who risk harassment by police and Thai officials if they were discovered. Their story dovetails with that of other Burmese who have had the same fate.
In January 2009, the Thai army has sent in hundreds of sea Rohinghya (Muslim ethnic group) found on boat adrift off the coast of Ranong. Many of them are estimated to have died at sea.
For several years, the victimization of thousands of Burmese immigrants in Thailand has taken off without any government intervention. Today is not 'nothing changed even though the behavior with the Rohingya has received international attention and after the incident in 2008 where 54 Burmese have died of suffocation inside a truck that contained more' than 100 direct to Phuket.
A lifetime of work in the corporate legal or illegal 'construction in Phuket, is the dream of many Burmese who prefers a dog's life secluded in Thailand rather than poverty' and famine in their land.
Ae and Mo's story takes place right next to the Conference International Anti-Corruption to be held 'in Bangkok in November to be attended by some 1,500 delegates from around the world. Sihasak Phuangketkeow and 'the President of the UN Human Rights Council in Thailand.
Mo is 17 years old and says he is an orphan. He has no memory of his parents and says she was raised by a woman in Victoria Point, Burma over the country 'near Ranong.
" When I was 6, I was taken in Thailand by the woman who raised me after my parents died. I brought in the province of Chumphon, where she worked for a company stocks. At 13, he sold the owner of a karaoke bar for 70,000 baht. I paid 4,000 baht a month but the wages went to the woman. I served at the tables, cleaned the bar and entertain customers. If the customer gave me a tip, I treasure it. I told the owner I wanted to leave and he said I could not because 'I had paid for and I could not escape. Then, I met a Burmese man who gave me nice job in a fish. So I could 'save for one year and met Ae he was looking for work. Ae had decided to return to Ranong and I went with her .
"Chumpon Before we left, the police stopped us on the street asking 7,000 baht per head as the price of letting go. Ae reference ' do not have the money but I had some savings and was able to negotiate a price of 3,000 baht, and then I was free to leave .
" Ae, however, had one month in prison before being put on a truck assigned Ranong along with other Burmese. Ae I met in Ranong. I had no job and no money, so 'decided to go to Soi 3 (the area of \u200b\u200bRanong brothels) and work in a karaoke bar owned' by a policeman who had custody of my identity card '. The customer paid 350 baht for sex of which 125 went to the master and 100 corrupt immigration officer. I had to work every day with 4 or 5 customers. In the end I ran away and met Ae me but the owner has unearthed with the help of his henchmen and brought me back to the bar .
" Then I got sick and ended up in Ranong Hospital, after that 'Ae took me and brought to stay with another friend. I was stopped by a policeman to whom I said that my identity card 'we had the owner of the bar in Soi 3. The policeman asked me 2,000 baht, so I had not brought me to the station. At the trial, they gave me a fine of 2,000 baht which is to serve 10 days in jail to 200 baht per day, after that 'they sent me to the Immigration detention center .
" then I noticed a woman wondering if anyone had come to pay the bail for me in which I said no. The woman then paid 1,500 baht for Immigration and took me away in trucks along with 20 other women and 30 men. We then boarded two boats, one for men and another for women. We all had their wrists tied. Near Victoria Point, a boat and then we 'coming meeting. The man on the boat had a list of persons to be taken on board. 4 other girls with me were put on the boat and reported in Thailand and all the others were taken to several other boats .
"We did not never seen any authority 'Burma. I knew we were going to Thailand but I did not know where. The woman who had paid 1,500 baht for me waiting at the dock. For each of us, he paid 2,000 baht ".
"A minivan has also led us to the district of Kraburi to work in a rubber plantation. After 6 weeks, the woman told me that I would find a husband. So I made friends with a man who took me out shopping at the local market but at the first opportunity I ran away with 1,000 baht in his pocket and took the bus to Ranong, where I again met Ae ".
Ae 23 years old and says he lived in Ranong for over 10 years having arrived with eight other family members who have started to sell clothes and stayed.
" About four years ago, my family decided to return to Burma. With the life savings, they decided to open a store while I liked it, so I stayed in Thailand. The life and 'more' hard in Burma. When I need money, sometimes working at the bar. The owner of a bar took my identity card 'and if e' required.
"I made a little 'going to Thailand, Samui, Phuket and also Nakkornsitammarat. Instead of controlling the police Tachatchai I asked the Identity Card 'to which I replied that I lived in Phuket and receiving forgotten at home. Did not object to making me pass. I speak Thai pretty well .
" Once in Chumphon, I met Mo and I was arrested because I had no Identity Card 'and money. I was detained and then send in Ranong with the swift. Immigration, I have asked for money but I told them I had only 1,500 baht only enough for your trip to Victoria Point .
" When I then found money, are allocated for Thailand, holding a visa 1 week. Since then, no more 'back. One night, a policeman stopped me in Ranong. I had no identity card '. He wanted 5,000 baht and I said that I had not. Then he told me that if I went to bed with him I would bring the station. In the end, and 'got 1,500 baht .
" When we meet the Thai police, always ask for money. I remember a time when three men came to my home because 'they were looking for Mo which had gone to the house of a friend of ours. After I was beaten, the men took me on a hill where I thought it would kill me because 'I did not want to tell them where he was Mo. I was then raised to Ranong in a bar in Soi 3 and handcuffed to a table. The handcuffs were not so 'narrow way' I managed to break free and escape. I returned to my room to get my things and then go see Mo .
" Now, during the day if I'm not afraid someone would notice. At night and 'different because' and 'more' dangerous. The police here 'does' money on the skin of the Burmese at any time. Even in Burmese rule are subject to threats of being caught in possession of drugs (made by the police) if they refuse the payment of lace .
Mo Ae and say they want to continue their life in Thailand, probably in Ranong. Do not know how to respond to questions about their future. The Colonel Chief Immigration Office in Ranong said that all questions put to him must first have the approval of his superiors in Bangkok.
